Benefits of using a bed bug encasement
Bed bugs live primarily along the folds and seams of the mattress or in your box spring. Once they have settled in, they reproduce quickly. A bed bug cannot pierce or puncture a fabric surface.
In case of an infestation :
- Adult bed bugs, nymphs and eggs are trapped inside the encasement and will starve in the absence of a human blood source.
- You avoid throwing away a mattress or box spring that is in good condition (changing it is not a solution, new ones will be infested in a few days!).
- You prevent trapped bedbugs from biting you.
- You avoid a chemical and toxic treatment of the bedding.
As a preventive measure:
- You prevent new bed bugs from being introduced into the mattress or box spring.
- Bed bugs have fewer places to hide.
- You minimise the available nesting areas.
- You can identify the presence of bed bugs more quickly and easily.
Even with an encasement, if you have an infestation, it is essential to treat the affected areas as quickly as possible.
Finally, we advise you to avoid bringing home second-hand items, such as mattresses, box springs, or wooden/upholstered furniture. If you decide to do so anyway, inspect them carefully. Place mattresses or box springs in a bed bug encasement after heating them in a ZappBug chamber or treating them with dry steam (Cimex Eradicator).
